How to Navigate Southern Stitches
Hover your mouse on the top navigation bar to read all the pages in my website. "Design Shop" holds all my embroidery pages, in-the-hoop, ePatterns, Smocking Plates, Machine Shadow Work and other designs. If you are looking for my Trendy Hospital Gown pattern, it is located on my ePatterns page.
My name is Laurie Anderson and the owner of Southern Stitches. My business is dedicated to fostering the Art of Fine Heirloom Sewing, Smocking and related Needle Arts thru vintage-inspired fashion and design. For me, fashion is art, and the artist in me loves to create & design sewing patterns and unique hand & machine embroideries. My vintage-inspired, heirloom children's wear maintains the classic elements that have for generations, adorned beloved little ones!
I love beautifully detailed children's apparel made with love and with the distinctive hand touches of smocking, embroidery and sweet pleats. My first love is for Hand Smocking & Heirloom Sewing, and I enjoy sharing these techniques by instruction, as well as in embroidery and pattern design. My design shop is devoted exclusively for vintage-inspired handmade garments, embroidery designs and ePatterns. You can also find many of my sewing & technique tutorials, as well as eBooks right here at Southern Stitches and also at my blog, SewNso’s Sewing Journal.
You can find my work published in the pages of Sew Beautiful Magazine, where I was a commissioned designer for over 10 years.
Welcome to Southern Stitches!
